Happy New Year

Well, Christmas is past and so will be 2007 in a few more days. Most people have already thought of a new year's resolution which according to research tend to last around 1 month. I would like to present some people who beat the system in 2007:

6 people started the Honolulu Marathon. 6 people finished it.

Lucia ran St. George and qualified for Boston.

The 1/2 marathon graduation run.

Long Beach and San Jose half marathons.

Beth after Disneyland half.

I know I haved ommited some people and races (I have a really bad archiving system), but I just wanted to give you a taste of just a few races our club members have done in 2007 as they kept at least the exercise resolution alive and going through the whole year. Let's make 2008 our best year yet. Invite more people to join our family and enjoy what we are already enjoying. Happy New Year. See you Sunday.

Hanauma Bay last Monday

Well, we are all here in L.A. again and by now we are probably back in to the usual routine. We do miss Hawaii. As a last Hawaiian post I would like to offer this video I took at Hanauma Bay on Monday. The Bay was almost empty, I think due to the fact that lots of people were still sore from the marathon the day before. But since our training encourages faster recovery some of us were able to enjoy being out there. I miss those fish. Enjoy.

Marathon results

Well, it's done. It was hard, hilly and very wet but all who started the marathon finished. A special congratulations to our new marathoners: Maria, Patricia, and Jet. They went through the heavy rains, got their shoes wet which caused blisters or discomfort but finished and now can proudly display their medals earned after finishing the 26.2 mile journey. We tried to stay dry at the beginning but it proved worthless so we just went for it. The good thing about having that kind of weather in Hawaii is that it keeps the sun away and stays a little cooler. It was a great race. We will be finishing with some sightseeing and some well earned rest and hope to see you all this coming Sunday at the park. Miss you all. Juan

Sunny Hawaii

Hello from now sunny Honolulu. The strong winds have died down and the sun is out. While those strong winds were hitting the island many things got changed; first, the turtles couldn't come to the beach because the seas were too rough for them to go around the rocks. Also last night they were supposed to have fireworks off a small island near Honolulu but due to the high winds they had to cancel. I did manage to go and take a picture of the Honolulu skyline at night and you can see the clouds thinning out. The other picture is for you to see for yourself that the sun is out and it is getting warm. High today is 80 and tomorrow is 79 for the marathon. Don't forget to pray for us. See you soon.

Honolulu trip update.

So far so good. We had a wonderful day yesterday starting with the Legends 5k around Kapiolani Park. It rained hard at the end of the race but as you know, in Hawaii it rains for 5-10 minutes and then the sun comes out. We went out to breakfast as a group and discussed some activities and the race day instructions/strategies in order to finish strong and be able to move around the next day. We also went to Pali Lookout Point, The Dole Plantation, the North Shore (where we had the world famous Matsumoto's Shave Ice) and then we visited a couple of beaches up there. However, we had scattered rain all day long but still managed to have fun. The pictures are of the sky over Honolulu and it shows the clouds with the sun trying to break in every now and then. See you all on the 16th.

Races in December

Jet, Grace, Patricia, and I will be running the City of Angels Half Marathon on December 2. Next club run will be the next Sunday in Hawaii for the Honolulu Marathon. Marathon participants will be: Beth, Grace, Maria, Patricia, Grace, Jet, and I. We will try to post pictures or anything interesting if time permits while we are there. Don't forget to start tabulating your total mileage for the 2007 calendar year so we can post the total amount of miles our Clinic covered during the year. I will be posting available races for 2008, all the way from fun walks and 5k's to marathons so you can maybe pick a couple you want to do and make them part of your goals for the new year. See you in two weeks.

Welcome to our Blog!

Well, this is the first step towards some modernization our Clinic needs. In the future you will find schedules, news, pictures, comments, etc. Please be patient since I am new to this and a little slow when it comes to learning new stuff. But we will be moving, slowly, but moving ahead. I will figure out how this thing works and if you already know how it does please lend a hand. I hope the comments button works, if it does please let me know what you think and what you would like to include. This is only a blog, but with some patience our own website should be coming in the first part of the coming year. Enjoy and comment away...
